Robert Allen Kirk, 61, of Terra Alta, passed away peacefully, in his home, Friday, October 3, 2025. Rob was a devoted husband, father, brave firefighter, and a man with a passion for connection who never met a stranger. Born July 12, 1964, in Kingwood, Rob was a son of the late Paul J. “Pete” Kirk and Janet E. Rostosky Kirk.
As “Chief 11”, fire chief of Company 11/160 in Terra Alta for over 30 years, Rob dedicated his life to service of his community and protecting others. He saved lives, provided comfort, and mentored others both professionally and personally.
Outside of being a firefighter and leader, Rob had a gift of connecting with people. He spent many years in vehicle sales and frequently talked about the countless connections he made. He could strike-up a conversation with anyone and he made everyone feel like a friend. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to service, huge heart, and the way he could light up a room. His laugh was infectious, his hugs were healing, and his love for his family was unshakeable.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; one brother, Timothy Kirk; daughter, Brittany Baker; daughter, Alexis Cochran; son, Brennden Parker; daughter, Makenzie Parker; and son, Keenan Parker. Additionally, he is survived by three grandchildren, Addilyn Baker, Kinsley Baker, and Tanner Cochran.
Friends may call at The Terra Alta Fire Department, 1120 E. State Avenue, Terra Alta, WV 26764, from 2 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Thursday, October 9.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Terra Alta Fire Department or the American Cancer Society at http://donate.cancer.org.
Rob will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
