Frederick Joseph Koch Jr.

Frederick Joseph Koch Jr., 92, passed away peacefully Friday, October 3, 2025, in Kingwood Healthcare Center. He reunited with his lovely bride, Carolyn Ann Greaser, on what would have been their 72nd wedding anniversary. Fred and Kate were married October 3, 1953.
Fred was born June 2, 1933, in the living quarters of the Kingwood Baking Company in Kingwood, to loving parents Frederick J. Koch, Sr. and Rosella V. Hinebaugh Koch.
Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army May 11, 1953 and served in Korea for two years; he was discharged April 29, 1955.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn “Kate” Koch; parents, Frederick and Rosella Hinebaugh Koch; sister, Cindy Koch Fields; in-laws, Joseph Bernard and Margaret Bickford Greaser; son-in-law, Charles Richard Goff; grandson, Bryson Frederick Koch; and brothers-in-law, Thomas and Robert Greaser.
Fred, Jr. worked with his father, Fred, Sr. at Koch’s Esso Servicenter, was the owner of Koch’s Motor Sales and then was manager of Penmarva Grocers until his retirement.
Fred is survived by his children, Candace (Sam) Liston, Freddie (Jane) Koch, Steve (Vicki) Koch, Kelly (Richard) Mitchell; grandchildren, Brooks (Cyndi) Liston, Courtney (Scott) Kirby, Katelyn (Jeremy) Preston, Ross Koch, Heather (Ryan) Robba, Mitchell (Kay) Koch, Colton Goff, Madison Goff (Rob Thompson); great- grandchildren, Abby (Logan) Conley, Lacey (Jacob) Oates, Beau (Haley) Liston, Caroline Kirby, Kendall Kirby (Ricky Lane), Mia and Amelia Preston, Roane and Lainey Robba, Calvin Goff, Brooks Koch; brother-in- law, Rick Fields; and sisters-in-law, Barbara “Boots” Greaser and Patricia Greaser.
Fred loved attending church, KHS Alumni Association, having coffee with his coffee group, watching his grand(children) play ball, watching the Pirates and Steelers, and listening to the oldies on the radio. He loved to be the giver or the recipient of a good joke, like when Sonny Peddicord took Fred’s running car outside of Save-A-Lot and parked it in Fred’s own garage without Fred’s knowledge.
Family and friends may be received in the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, from 3 to 6 p.m., when a prayer vigil will be held, Thursday, October 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, with Father Dominic Athishu as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, where full military honors will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Honor Guard.
