Sarah Ellen McCourt, 74, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 28, 2025, at Mon Health Medical Center after a six-year battle with cancer.
Born September 15, 1950, in Morgantown, she was a daughter of the late James Henry Ford and the late Sarah Frances Darnell Ford.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, David Earl McCourt; two daughters, Tammy Eddy and husband Christopher of Grafton, and Samantha McCourt of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Savannah Regan and Adriona Rush, Jacob and wife Abby Eddy, all of Fairmont, Sydney and husband Joey Curry of Grafton and their two sons, Sarah’s great- grandchildren, Klayton and Jacob; her siblings, Mary J. McCourt, James F. Ford, Iona H. Kuykendall, Annabelle Tate, Frank Ford, and Rosetta Tate; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Davy Ford.
Sarah enjoyed cooking and being in the outdoors, birdwatching and tending to her flower gardens. She was a beautiful and kindhearted soul who would help anyone in need.
Above all, she was a devoted wife to her husband and dearly loved and adored her grandchildren.
At Sarah’s request, there will be no funeral home visitation. A graveside committal service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 4 p.m. at the Fletcher Cemetery on Morgan Run Road in Cheat Lake. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to gather at the cemetery by 3:50 p.m.
