Ernest Lee Eavenson

Ernest “Ernie” Lee Eavenson, 74, of Morgantown, entered into eternal peace on Friday, July 25, 2025 at WVU Medicine – JW Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1951 in Morgantown, a son of the late Thelma Brown and the late Steve Eavenson.
Survivors include companion, Vicki Lynn Howdershelt; two sisters and two brothers, Sandy and Hugh Blake of Core, David and Dora Ann Eavenson of Grafton, Colleen Eavenson of Morgantown, and John Eavenson of Morgantown; his step-brothers and step-sister, Ronald Myers, Rodney “Butch” Myers, and Sheri Pusateri all from Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Also, Ernie leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Lady Bug.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Larry Eavenson; a nephew, Christopher Eavenson; his step-father Charles Brown; and his stepmother Rose Eavenson.
Ernie retired from Martinka Coal Company as a fire boss in 1996 and was a mine operator there for 21 years. He also worked as a foreman on the railroad. He enjoyed being on his farm and being with his animals, chickens, and cows, being in his cabin and spending time with Lady Bug.
Friends may join the family to honor Ernie’s life and legacy at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown, on Sunday, July 27 from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Monday, July 28 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Tiny Ann Davis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
