Cherie M. Cheslock, 76, of Star City, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Madison Rehab Center, after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. McGlone and Mary Sue Milhalke Hiser; her sisters, Charlet Varnetter and Sheena Marie McGlone; and brother, Charles Curtis McGlone.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Cheslock; her son, Jason Cheslock; and her sister, Gloria Candice Schap and her three children, Angel Miller (Justin), Tiffany Burns (Tim) and David Schap.
She graduated from University High School then enrolled at WVU School of Radiology and graduated as an X-Ray technician, starting her life-long career. Her focus was always what was best for the patient. She worked as an X-Ray technician from graduation, starting at the St. Vincent Pallotti Hospital, then with Monongalia General Hospital until the birth of Jason. Her reputation as an excellent X-Ray technician preceded her and she was approached shortly after his birth and went back to work at the Morgantown E.N.T. Clinic staying with them until her retirement.
She understood the importance of play, even in adulthood. She would lighten the day with a joke or clowning around. She gave the best backrubs to weary co- workers in the hallways between patients. She loved the profession and during her 50-year career, the countless patients she met while working, remembering them and their children until her passing. She rarely met a stranger. She took it as a personal challenge to get people to open up and feel comfortable. Having grown up in Morgantown and worked with the public all her life, she would frequently recognize a face and say, “Let’s sit down and figure out where we know each other from.” Up until her illness she got together monthly with a group, those she had worked with over the years that had grown into an extended family.
Friends may gather in McCulla Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 21, and again Tuesday, July 22, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, with Justin Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
