MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown Utility Board is asking the public to avoid contact with a portion of Deckers Creek after a landslide damaged a 30-inch sewer line that runs adjacent to the stream.
“Our short-term strategy is to pump around the damaged area of the line until a permanent repair can be made,” MUB Communications Director Chris Dale said. “We are meeting with a contractor Tuesday morning to discuss the pump around.”
The rail-trail is not impacted, but untreated sanitary sewage is being released into Deckers Creek until a solution is in place.
“We ask that the public avoid contact with Deckers Creek from the University Avenue bridge to the river until the issue is resolved. We will keep the public informed as the work progresses,” Dale said.
