Jean “Allyson” McKee passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, in WVU Hospital, following a brief illness. Born November 1, 1947, in Pasadena, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Ellison Stallings and Audrey Cooper Stallings.
Family left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clark McKee; children, Lisa (Jeff) Wotring and Sean Mckee; grandchildren, Devan Moran (Erika), Tyler Moran (John) and Loryn (Alex) Mayle; her brother, John (Margaret) Stallings; and nephews, Ryan and Drew Stallings.
She was preceded in death by her father (1960) and mother (2008).
During her childhood, after her father’s untimely passing, her mother singlehandedly provided for the family and proudly guided Allyson through those challenges, ultimately instilling a sense of independence, grit and fortitude.
A 1965 graduate of Severna Park High School, their close proximity to Ocean City spawned her love for seafood, which became a theme at many family gatherings throughout the years.
Allyson completed her undergraduate in 1969 with a degree in Zoology from West Virginia University.
The next year she and her husband, Clark married June 20, 1970, West Virginia Day.
She later obtained a Master’s degree of Library Science in 1972 from the University of Pittsburgh and began her career at WVU libraries in acquisitions spanning over 40 years until her retirement in 2015.
Upon retirement, she continued her passion of learning through OLLI programs and became fervently involved with many other charitable organizations including: Empty Bowls of Monongalia County, Scott’s Run Settlement House and The Rosenbaum House. Allyson also thoroughly enjoyed her newfound talent and camaraderie at the Morgantown Art Association, creating beautiful watercolor art and sharing many pieces with family and friends. She was also a friend of animals, known to adopt several cats through the years and found much enjoyment recounting their shenanigans and the joy they offered her. She was especially fond of Luna aka Luna Toons.
Her church family and God were always a priority. A faithful member of the Suncrest United Methodist church, she has spent countless hours in support of many ministries including children/youth ministry, the Dollie Hyre Circle and involvement in several local committees.
We will forever remember and celebrate Allyson as a devoted, compassionate, hardworking and faithful friend, wife, mom and sister, who has long provided stability, love and encouragement selflessly.
