Dorthea Jean Pixler, 90, of Morgantown, died peacefully, in her home, Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Dorthea was born October 7, 1934, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Roy Danley Sr. and Fannie Blosser Danley.
Dorthea graduated from Morgantown High School in 1952.
She was employed by Monongahela Power Company for 10 years.
In 1962, Dorthea married Harold Pixler and the two of them bought the Westover Motel. After Harold’s death in 1987, Dorthea continued to run the motel until 2000, when she retired from the business.
She then spent her time with her family and volunteering. She also enjoyed cooking and caring for her yard. For the last 16 years of Dorthea’s life, she was dedicated to her sole grandchild, Daylene, whom she cherished.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Pixler- Davis and husband Delbert, and granddaughter, Daylene of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; sister-in-law, Erma Danley; nephew, Mark Danley and wife Debbie; and niece, Shelia Bolyard and husband Jay, all of Morgantown; several great-nieces and nephews; and her cousin, Dortha Ann Boyd of Huntsville, Ala., with whom she shared a special bond.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and brother, Roy Danley, Jr.
The family wants to express its sincere appreciation to her devoted caregiver, Dawn Dulaney, and to WV Caring Hospice for their exceptional care and support of Dorthea. Their compassion, dedication, and guidance brought immense comfort and enabled her to remain at her home, where she wanted to be.

Friends and family will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, with the Rev. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
