Charles Donald Imler, 49, of Bruceton Mills, died unexpectedly Friday, June 6, 2025, in UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pa. The son of Robert and Cathy Miller Imler, he was born in Bedford, Pa., October 26, 1975.
In 1994, after graduating from Chestnut Ridge High School in Bedford, Charles enlisted in the Army. After 20 years of active duty, he retired as a SFC while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, also serving three years at Ft. Hood, Texas. He continued his military service in the 458 Engineer Battalion Support Company as an active member of the Army Reserves, stationed in Johnstown, Pa.
In 2018, he was employed by Panhandle Oilfield Services as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents, Charles is survived by his wife, Kayla Dawn Collins Imler; his daughter and her husband, Justice and Matthew Mongold; stepchildren, Jayda and Carson; his sisters, Julie and Amy (companion, Jeremy); his brother, Jay; nephews, Kaden, Noah, Bentley, River and Wesson; and nieces, Abby and Bayley. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Lori Collins; father-in-law and his wife, Kenny and Julie Collins; Kayla’s grandparents, Melvin and Sharon Jackson, and Wilma Collins; his sister and brother-in- law, Taylor and Chris Rosenberger; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by Kayla’s grandfather, Carl Collins; his grandparents, Gerald and Leone Miller, and Charles and Ora Imler.
Family and friends will be received in the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville- Bruceton Mills, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Visitation continues from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service Thursday, June 12, in the Centenary Church in Bruceton Mills with Chaplin Captain Roy Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at the Centenary Cemetery, with full military honors by the 458 Engineer Battalion Support Company of Johnstown.
