Brian Eugene Fitchett, 60 of Tunnelton, W.Va., passed away as a result of an automobile accident on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
He was born on July 12, 1964 in Kingwood, son of the late James Raymond Fitchett, Sr. and Shirley Sue Ann Bennett Fitchett.
Brian’s Aunt Mary and Uncle Lawrence (Sedrick) Jones raised him since he was in the 7th grade. He graduated from Rowlesburg High School, Class of 1983.
Brian was a member of the Mount View United Methodist Church and the Tunnelton Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Ace Aggregates in Nestorville. Brian enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mack Trucks, spending time at his cabin with the littles, and he was a famous local cook. Brian was a baby whisperer and loved children, he was everybody’s Uncle Brian. He was known for his hugs and to always have a smile on his face.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Melanie Gabrielle Linton Fitchett; two sons, John Fitchett of Denver, and Jacob Fitchett (Donna) of Howesville; one grandson, Elliot; two brothers, Robby Fitchett (Tina) of Tunnelton, and Jim Fitchett of Kingwood; cousin, Mike Jones (Debbie), but more like a brother; mother-in-law, Mary Linton of Evansville; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Clingerman (Mark) and their daughter Kate, of Reedsville, Darla Shaffer of Kingwood, Sonynita Fitchett, and son, Franklin of Masontown; one brother-in-law, Denzil Linton (Holly) of Canvas, W.Va. and sons, Cole, Clay and Jubal; niece, Renee Tusing (Derek), and their children, Bristol, Jordan, Hollyn, Brooklyn and Kord; nephew, Tommy Fitchett (Ayla) and their child, Eleanor; two maternal aunts, Judy Lipscomb of Alaska, and Ethel Sypolt of Moatsville; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by three brothers in infancy; grandparents, Stanley and Nettie Fitchett; father-in-law, Denzil Linton.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, June 1, 1 to 6 p.m. and Monday, June 2, 11 a.m . until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, with Pastor Dave Biggins officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Sarah Cemetery at Sinclair Ridge Road, Etam.
