John Andrew “Johnny” Cettin of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Bobtown, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born June 26, 1930
He retired from the Shannopin Mine in Bobtown, and was a member of UMWA Local 6159. People will also remember that he was a drummer and played with lots of local bands.
His last years were spent living in Colorado close to his grandson and great-grandchildren, which included music recitals, musicals, plays, and sports. He loved the mountains, and spent hours on his swing reading and looking at the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bobbi; and his youngest son, Danny.
Survivors include his daughters, Patti (George) Hess of Loveland, Aimee (Michael) Piatkowski of Trenton, Mich.; and son, Joe (Patti) Cettin of Bluefield, Va.; his grandchildren, Michael and Suzi Hess, Ben Hess, Ian Wolfe, and John and Terri Cettin; great-grandchildren; Abby and Derek DeVaughn, Mia Hess, Nathan Hess, Toby Hess, Elliott Hess, and Griffin Hess. He also loved his nieces, nephews and extended family and kept up with them on Facebook – especially the Bobtown news.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Point Marion, with the Rev. Fr. Francis Frazer officiating.
