Kenneth B. Goodwin Sr.

Kenneth B. Goodwin Sr., known affectionately as Ken, whose humility and kindness touched all who knew him, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born July 12, 1943, in Morgantown.
Ken’s life was one characterized by steadfast dedication. For over 40 years, he served the facilities at WVU Physical Plant with unwavering commitment, ensuring a safe and functional environment for the staff and students. Ken’s work ethic was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith and community.
A pillar of the Westover United Methodist Church for more than six decades, Ken’s spiritual devotion was the cornerstone of his existence.
Notably, Ken’s pride as an engaged and spirited member of the Westover Volunteer Fire Department spanned an extraordinary 57 years. His passion for his community was not only evident in his service, but also in his joy for the simple pleasures in life, like bowling. Every Friday morning, Ken could be found sharing laughs and strikes with his friends at Suburban Lanes in the senior league.
The echo of Ken’s kindness will resonate through his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to his daughter, Becky Ruckle (Bill) of Morgantown; and his son, Kenny Goodwin Jr. of Westover. His cherished grandchildren, Maggie McQueen (Darren) of Bridgeport, Cody Ruckle (fiancee Bre Barone) of Morgantown, and Hannah Ruckle of Morgantown, will miss their grandfather’s gentle guidance and his endless support. Ken’s treasured memories will also be safeguarded by his sister, Mary Ida Woods of Morgantown; his brothers, Larry Goodwin (Donna) of Morgantown, and Gerald Goodwin (Helen) of Fairmont; and his sister-in-law, Sandy Goodwin of Florida.
His soul now reunites with those who predeceased him: his beloved parents, Benton and Hazel Case Goodwin; his endearing wife, Margaret Louise McKinney Goodwin; and his brother, Jimmy Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Westover United Methodist Church, 28 North Street, Westover, WV 26501; or Westover VFD, 11 Cottage Street, Westover, WV 26501.
Family and friends may gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23. Visiation will continue Saturday, May 24, from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, with Pastor Stacy Chrise-Tritt officiating.
