Mike Kostak

Mike Kostak, 95, of Pursglove, passed away in his residence Friday, May 16, 2025. He was born July 4, 1929, in Nemacolin, Pa., a son of the late John and Julia Borsas Kostak.
He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church.
Mike was a Corporal in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of the 289th U.S. Army Band.
Mike retired as a policeman from the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, and was a member of the DC Police Band.
Mike enjoyed gardening, music, and playing golf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Przywara Kostak; one son, John Michael Kostak and his wife, Darlene DeCarlo Kostak of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Brent, Andrea and Carol; two great-grandchildren, Holden and Ezra; one sister, Julia Plasko of Nemacolin; and five nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, John Kostak, Jr., and George Kostak; and two sisters, Mary Mayhew and Ann Foor.
The family would like to especially thank Amedysis Hospice and Jennifer McAllister for their loving care and support.
Family and friends will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. The visitation will continue in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 10 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, S.T.D., as celebrant.
Interment will take place later Thursday at Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Street, Waynesburg, Pa.
