Karen L. Morgan Knotts, 81, of Westover, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, in Genesis Healthcare – Madison Center in Morgantown, with her family by her side.
She was born April 1, 1944, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late William Jennings Bryan Morgan, and the late Thelma Absalom Morgan.
Karen is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ann Hileman of Kingwood, and Molly Beth Knotts of Westover; three sons, Timothy Allen Knotts of Kingwood, Christopher Lynn Knotts and wife Nicole of Alabama, and Todd Matthew Knotts and wife Miki of Morgantown; her grandchildren, Elyssa Knotts, Justin Knotts, Tyler Knotts, Nicholas Knotts, Jael Knotts, Leilani Knotts, Gordon Pull and wife Ashlee, Zachary Pull and wife Molly, Zachary Flesher and wife Cait, and Jordan Steele and wife Jenna; several great-grandchildren; and her many special and devoted friends, including Patty Fisher and Geraldine Toth, who were with her almost every day. As an only child, Karen held close relationships all throughout her life with her many cousins, whom she treasured.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Knotts; her daughter, Pamela Sue Pull; her son, Bryan Earl Steele; grandson, Joshua Knotts; and son-in-law, Wendell Hileman.
Karen was a 1962 graduate of Morgantown High School and was heavily involved with its reunion committee for several years.
She worked in the home department at Elder Beerman for 17 years, and then as a part-time pharmacy technician at Giant Eagle.
She loved country line dancing and was active in the area senior centers taking in as many activities as she could. She was also an avid quilter, and a member of a quilting league for many years.
Beyond anything, her family describes her as the “mother of all mothers.” She was an excellent provider of anything they ever needed and made sure they wanted for nothing.
Friends may join the family to honor Karen’s life and legacy in Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover (304) 292-9494, from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, and again Friday, May 23, from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Kevin Cain. Following the funeral service, Karen will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Mervin, at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
