Willis Eugene Morton

Willis Eugene Morton, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the age of 92, in his lifelong home of Morgantown.

Born April 6, 1933, to Louis and Icie Morton, Willis would go on to serve with honor in the United States Navy and dedicate many years as a skilled electrician at Fort Martin Power Plant.
A member of the Church of Christ on Scott Avenue, a true family man, Willis’s greatest joys were found in the laughter and tales shared during hunting trips and gatherings with his beloved wife, Shirley Auvil Morton; their children, Cherlyn Ann DeWitt (Larry), Willis E. Morton II, Carl L. Morton (Marcia); their cherished seven grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents and sister, Betty Lou Wilson, Willis is survived by his sister, Frances Milik; his brother, Louis Morton Jr.; and a family that spans generations. His legacy as a gentle, hardworking, and deeply loving individual will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Friends may gather in McCulla Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in the funeral home, with Ron Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery, with full military honors conferred by Westover VFW #9916 and Navy Military Honors.
