Sarah grew up in the Scotts Run Neighborhood, graduating from the areas only all-black Beechurst Monongalia High School.
In addition to working at the Pentagon, she was a home health aide and finished out her career after 30 years at the Scotts Run Settlement House.
She was an avid music lover and sang with her sisters, Ida and Kitty, taking them to New York and Washington DC, where they entertained President Roosevelt. Once back in West Virgina, she continued with the flying colors.
In addition to being known for her work and singing, Miss Sarah was dedicated to her relationship with Christ; her Bible was worn from cover to cover and her prayer life was transformative. To all she was the safe place of refuge; her prayers covered generations, she loved freely, lived with grace and unmatched wisdom.
