Bernard Lee Raber, 82, of Blacksville, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in his residence.
He was born March 8, 1943, at Blacksville, a son of the late Carl E. Raber Sr. and Florence J. Rogers Raber.
Bernie was a retired journeyman ironworker and a member of Ironworkers Local 549 in Wheeling.
He was a member of the Waynesburg Lodge #153 of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons. He also was a member of the Bula Baptist Church.
Bernie never met a stranger. He loved to work in his garage.
He owned and operated Bernie’s Auto Clinic for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ruth Moore Raber, whom he married November 17, 1963; two sons, Bernard Raber of Wana, and Bryan Raber and wife Lisa of Jakes Run; one brother, Cecil B. Raber and wife Linda of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, Crysann Moore and husband Curtis, Joseph Raber and wife Samantha, Bryson Raber; and two great- grandchildren, Charlee Moore and Jeremiah Moore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Lee Raber, Jr.; and three brothers, Carl E. Raber, Jr., Alvin K. Raber, and Ronnie Raber.
The family would like to give a special thanks to WVU Hospice and Melissa Howard for the love and compassion show to Bernie and his family during his illness.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, with Pastor Drew Reveal officiating. Interment will follow in Blacksville Cemetery.
