Wilfred “Will” Joseph Reilly, 80, passed away peacefully, in his home, Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born July 28, 1944, in Altoona, Pa., Will was a son of the late James and Alberta Beck Reilly.
Survivors include his daughter, Moira (Steve) of Morgantown; son, Bruce of Bunnell, Fla.; brothers, Matthew of Ocala, Fla., and James (Margaret) of Lincoln, Calif.; sister-in-law Marge (Gene) of Alexandria, Va.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Pat; his sister-in-law, Suzanne; sister, Emelia Ann, and brother-in-law James.
Will loved learning and continued to do so throughout his life, earning a BS in Physics from the University of Notre Dame and PhD in Physics from Yale University. While he loved teaching physics and math at both the secondary and post-secondary levels, mid-career he sought to directly serve those in need by becoming a medical physicist specializing in radiation oncology.
In retirement, he pursued his love of learning through his involvement with OLLI at West Virginia University. He loved music, particularly playing the piano, guitar, and recorder in the OLLI Band, and singing at home, church, karaoke, and Shape-note gatherings.
He loved spending time with family and friends, and his Catholic faith was the foundation of his passion for helping others.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Brian J. Crenwelge in St. John University Parish, 1481 University Avenue, Morgantown, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the start of Mass in the church.
