Kenneth Charles “Chuck” Ward, 62, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Madison Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born October 21, 1962, in Morgantown, a son of Sharon Crytser Petitte and the late Jaspar Petitte.
Chuck was a graduate of Morgantown High School, where he played baseball and basketball.
He grew up on the Morgantown Speedway with his grandfather, where he raced sprint cars. He formerly also owned his own commercial lawncare business.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Charles Racy Ward and Faith Ann Ward, as well as their mother, Cheryl Cruz, all of Georgia; siblings, Dean Petitte (Erin) and Christopher Petitte, both of Morgantown; aunts and uncles, Bud Crytser (Margaret Ann), Patti Crytser, Victoria Conner, Sandra Gusman (Charles), Emelio Petitte, and John Petitte (Janet); along with several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Petitte; his uncles, Jim Crytser, James Petitte, and Ted Conner; and grandparents, Rena and James Crytser, and Evelyn and John Petitte.
Friends and family will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 noon Thursday, April 10, with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Inurnment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
