Edith Rose McCulloch Miller, God’s steadfast servant, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was born December 14, 1927. Edie was a recent resident of Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Fla., but she considered her home to be Morgantown. Edie’s life was a testament of humble service to her Lord and Savior and devotion to the nurture and care of her family. Jesus welcomed home his precious angel.
A true southern girl, Edie grew up in Durham, N.C. and attended Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. from 1951-1955, where she majored in music and met the love of her life, Douglas Miller.
She faithfully served alongside her husband in ministry through the Christian and Missionary Alliance as a pastor’s wife in four churches: Faith Gospel Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. (1955-1957); C&MA Church in Morgantown, (1968-1985); First Alliance Church in Mansfield, Ohio (1985-1989); and Community Alliance Church in Butler, Pa. (1989-1995). Edie also served in overseas ministry in Guinea, West Africa (1958-1967) and Paris, France (1995-1997). She was passionate about leading women’s Bible studies and leading others to Christ through Evangelism Explosion.
Edie fully lived the life of a Proverbs 31 woman. “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: ‘There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.”
Edie was often described as the life of the party by those who knew her best. She loved people and was passionate about the well-being of others. Recently, her living community peers recognized her with an Adventurous Spirit Award for being the most outgoing, which truly reflected her nature.
Edie was the greatest supporter and encourager to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Edie loved being a homemaker and was famous for her berry pies, blueberry muffins, and sweet southern tea. She was also an excellent seamstress known for her beautiful dresses.
Edie was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 67 years, Douglas Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Suzanne Christman and her husband, Chanley Matthew Christman; her grandsons, Colin Harold Christman and Dylan Douglas Christman; her nieces, Kathy Ashworth, Carol Gearhart and Tanya Miller Pyne; and nephew, Troy Miller; her great-niece, Amanda Pyne; and great- nephews, Jason and Alex Pyne; and her in-laws, Richard and Beverly Miller.

Friends and family will be received in C&MA Church, 308 Elmhurst Street, Morgantown, Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m., with the Rev. David Goodin officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
