Andrew F. Pekar Jr.

Andrew F. “Andy” Pekar Jr., 85, of Bobtown,, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 in Eicher’s Family Home of Normalville. He was born Tuesday, March 26, 1940, in Bobtown, a son of the late Andrew F. Pekar Sr. and Elizabeth Sheranko Pekar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty Sue Kirkendall Pekar; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Pekar; and sister, Rose Marie Gagne.
Andy was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a coal miner having worked at Shannopin Mine of Bobtown working his way up to be superintendent of the mine.
Andy was widely known for his skill of smoked meats and was the originator of the Hungarian Smokehouse of Carmichaels.
He is survived by two sons, Edward Pekar and wife Christina of Bethel, Alaska, and Tom Pekar and wife Judi of Garards Fort; one daughter, Beth Clark of Bobtown, eight grandchildren, Joel Pekar and wife Kat, Morgan Brosa and husband Kyle, Drew Pekar, Elisa, Payge, and Devin Clark, Tony Libertore and wife Alyssa, and Jenna Libertore; one great-grandson, Hayden Brosa; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Eicher’s Family Home and also to Amedisys Hospice for their great care and compassion given to Andy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in the Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Thomas B. Rudolph, funeral director and supervisor, 15 N. Main Street, Point Marion, where visitation continues Monday, April 7, from 10 until the time of services at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Francis Frazer officiating. Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery.
