Rebecca “Becky” Sue Fugera passed away peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2025, in her home in Great Mills, Md. She was born February 12, 1945, a daughter of Gerald and Susan Shanks. Originally from Core, Becky was a resident of St. Mary’s County since 1968.
Becky was retired from her career as an editorial assistant for the U.S. Navy.
She enjoyed going out to lunch and to the movies with friends and family. She was known for her witty sense of humor and love of playing Keno.
Becky enjoyed nature. She liked watching birds, especially hummingbirds. She fed the squirrels and planted flowers; Cosmos and dahlias were two of her favorites.
Becky was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three daughters, Stefanie Psarakis (Steve), Jennifer Abell (Patrick), and Kimberly Matthews (Brooke); grandchildren, Caroline and Maria Psarakis, Theron and Hannah Abell, and Madeline Matthews.
A private burial service will be held by her family Saturday, March 29, in Laurel Point, at Zoar Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Robert Stanley Fugera.
