Andrew Hernandez

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Andrew Hernandez, passed away just shy of his 76th birthday.
Andrew is survived by his almost constant sweetheart since 1963, Deborah Hernandez; his daughters, Amy of Morgantown and Jennifer of Rocky Hill, Conn.; his sons-in-law, Chanler Bailey, and Jeff Meisterling; and his favorites, his five grandchildren, Caroline, Addison, Colin, Benjamin, and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Hall, and her family of Fizers; many in-laws; and his caretaker, James.
Andrew was the son of Catherine Hernandez and raised by his beloved Grandpa, Gilberto Frank Hernandez in Osage; he always stayed close to those roots.
He graduated from University High School and then served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. He was a proud Vietnam veteran.
Andrew was an electrician by trade and lit up a lot of people’s homes and businesses throughout his life.
He also chased a lot of passions. He was a collector of stories and baseball cards. He enjoyed baseball and billiards immensely and even traveled to tournaments in Las Vegas to drop a ball in the side pocket.
“Our dad never missed a chance to tell us he loved us. He’d call (never text) regularly just to leave messages that said so. ‘Good night and God bless you’ were always the closing of these messages. Good night and God bless you, Daddy.
Friends and family will gather from 4:30 until the time of the service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, in the Fred Jenkins Chapel of Prayer, with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating. Members of Monongalia County Honor Guard will render military honors.
