Geraldean Creel, 89, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones in her home – exactly where she wanted to be.
Born July 10, 1935, in Pisgah, to the late Ezra Preston Walls and Rebecca Stout Walls, Geraldean was kind, caring, and had a playful sense of humor. She was a no-nonsense, fiercely independent woman who valued hard work and good company.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Creel (James Goldsmith), Clark Creel (Gail Creel), and Mark Creel (Cheri Leone); and her grandchildren, Evan Goldsmith, along with Alex and Anna Creel, all of whom she adored.
Geraldean was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Creel; and her sister, Sheila Asbury.
For two decades, Geraldean assisted in educating kids as a teacher’s aide in Monongalia County public schools.
She was a talented quilter, a determined gardener, a loyal friend on long walks, and a proud grandma who made sure her grandkids knew they were loved. She looked forward to annual fall family lakeside reunions, where family bonded around good food, long hikes, and marathon card games.
Geraldean was also a devoted member of the Community United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown.
