Ray Boring

Ray Junior Boring, 88, of Masontown, passed away at Kingwood Healthcare Center on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. 

Junior was born in Kingwood on Aug. 21, 1935, a son of the late Louis Ray and Glenna (Metheny) Boring. 

Junior was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from Jack Boyles and Reliable Coal Company with 32 years of service as a coal miner and was a former member of the UMWA. Junior loved woodwork and cut timber for many years. He enjoyed everything outside, especially gardening. Later in life, Junior enjoyed traveling. 

Junior is survived by three sons, Robert Boring and wife, Janet, of Maidsville, Patrick Boring and wife, Tammy, and Danny and wife, Missy, all of Masontown; two daughters, Mary Ann Varner and husband, Vernon, of Kingwood, and Vanessa Rossetti and husband, Tim, of Arthurdale; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Boring and wife, Peggy, of Marietta, Ohio; and three sisters, Carolyn Greathouse and Judy Radabaugh, both of Morgantown, and Kathy Garrett, of Masontown; and a sister-in-law, Helen Boring, of Buckhannon. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years and mother of his five children, Mary Elizabeth Boring, in 1994; his second wife of 21 years, Donna JoAnn Boring, in 2017; grandson, Gregory Boring; great-granddaughter, Aubree Boring; brother, Richard Boring; and son-in-law, Ralph DeBardi. 

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, April 26. A funeral service will be held at noon at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 4528 Herring Road, Masontown, WV 26542, on Saturday, April 27, with the Rev. William Winston officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
