Community & Diversity Day

The Hazel & J.W. Ruby Communitiy Center at Mylan Park took on a very cosmopolitan air Saturday as people gathered to celebrate cultures from around the world.

The First Energy Foundation Community and Diversity Day ran from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the center, featuring games, cultural exhibitions, a scavenger hunt, international activities, crafts, music from around the globe and more.

Participants could also see demonstrations and listen to presentations on a number of diversity and inclusivity-related topics, including fostering understanding across cultures, prejudice and bias and community robotics groups.

Free access to the Aquatic Center was also available, as well as a photo booth to capture memories of the day.

The Mylan Park Foundation was established to advance the educational, recreational, social and economic benefits to north-central West Virginia citizens, to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.

The FirstEnergy Foundations contributions to local nonprofit organizations help strengthen the social and economic fabric of our communities.

Funded solely by FirstEnergy, the foundation extends the corporate philosophy of providing community support.

The next scheduled event at Mylan Park is the 3rd Annual Great Balls of Fire Dodgeball Tournament May 5. Gates Open at noon and games begin at 1 p.m. Spectator admission is $3 with ages 3 and under admitted free.
