Brent Robinson

Brent D. Robinson, 76, of Morgantown, passed away on April 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his home.   

Brent was born on July 8, 1947, in Moundsville, to the late Donald and Clarice (DeLille) Robinson.   

Brent attended Moundsville High School and graduated in 1965. After a year at West Virginia University, Brent enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years with the 101st Airborne, including 15 months in Vietnam. During his service in Vietnam, Brent received several decorations, including the Bronze Star.   

Brent married Mary Catherine (Cathy) Lenevich on Jan. 2, 1969, and they were married 51 years until Cathy’s passing in 2020.   

Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Brent worked as a prison guard at the West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville while he attended college. He received a bachelor’s degree from West Liberty State College and a master’s degree from Wheeling College. Brent joined S.R. Snodgrass & Co. One of his proudest accomplishments was passing the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam on the first attempt and being named a partner at 27 years old after only two years with the firm.  

Brent joined Mercantile Banking and Trust in 1978 and would go on to have a very successful 30-year career in the banking industry, working through numerous mergers, including Mountaineer Bankshares, One Valley Bank and BB&T. His career moved him around West Virginia, taking him from Moundsville to Martinsburg (twice), Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown.  

Brent is survived by his daughter, Toni Ann DiChiacchio and husband, Vince; his son, Donald Robinson and wife, Carrie; and his eight grandchildren, Dominic DiChiacchio, Brent Robinson II, Sean Robinson, Kate Robinson, Anne Robinson, Beth Robinson, Grace Robinson and Grant Robinson. Also surviving him is his brother David Robinson (Christine), of Macon, Ga., and sister, Elaine (Steve) Scott, of Indianapolis, Ind.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to WVU Medicine Hospice, 12 Rousch Drive, Westover, WV 26501.  

A private family service will be held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with entombment to follow at St. Mary Peace Garden Mausoleum.
