Morgantown softball wins low-scoring game over Parkersburg South

Maddie Wismans RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning lifted the Morgantown softball team to a narrow 2-1 win over visiting Parkersburg South on ISS Field on Monday.

Wisman finished with two hits in the game with the go-ahead RBI and she scored the teams first run in the bottom of the second. Trailing 1-0 early, Kate Larimer hit a sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Wisman to come home.

Larimer went the distance in the circle, surrendering just one run on three hits and a walk in seven innings. She stuck out five.

BASEBALL

University 10, Linsly 2

BETHANY Playing at Bethany College, the University baseball team defeated Linsly 10-2 on Monday afternoon.

Brodee Latocha and Max Cash each had two hits, a double and two RBI to lead the Hawksoffense. Mason Chaney had a hit and three RBI and Wenkai Campbell had two hits and a double.

Chaney got the start on the mound and allowed one run in four innings while striking out a pair.

GIRLS TENNIS

Morgantown 7, Bridgeport 0

BRIDGEPORT The Mohigans were near perfect in a 7-0 sweep at Bridgeport on Monday, winning six of seven matches by 8-0 scores.

Maya Greenlee, Anika Chadha and Natalia Cassim all won 8-0 in singles. Grace Formans 8-4 victory was the only match in which the Indians scored points.

The Pairings of Greenlee and Chadha, Cassim and Forman and Tina Chen and Joyce Hu all won 8-0 in doubles.
