David Zugar

David Zugar, age 72, of Tunnelton, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Morgantown, Jan., 21, 1952, a son of the late Junior Harold Zugar, and Adele (Bernatowicz) Zugar. His wife of 23 years, Elizabeth Ann (Bohon) Zugar, survives.

David was a 1969 graduate of Kingwood High School, and a graduate of Fairmont State College where he earned his BS degree. He worked as a school teacher for several years, and retired from Kingwood Mining Company where he worked as a roof bolter at the Whitetail Mine. David enjoyed warm days and sunshine. He was a very compassionate person. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and trout fishing, riding his 4-wheeler and working on the farm. He enjoyed amateur photography, particularly photographing birds and wildlife. He also enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Richard Moury and wife Amanda; one daughter, Megan Reckart and husband Kenny; three grandchildren, Seth Moury, Hannah Reckart, and Ozlow Reckart; four sisters, Mary Lee Montgomery, Leona Sanders, June Ellen Riffle and husband Greg, and Danie Riley and husband Doug; and his faithful companion, his mini aussie, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Jenkins, and Angeline Cline.

Following his wishes cremation services will be accorded by Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood. There will be no visitation, a celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to send a special thank you to his caretakers at WV Caring. Your outstanding care and kind compassion is unsurpassed and will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to his funeral care fund to help with funeral costs.
