Search party planned to look for missing woman

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is still searching for a local woman who has been missing since Oct. 3.

Melanie Marie Gardner, 32, was last seen driving a black 2016 Jeep Patriot with West Virginia plates.

Gardner is described as a white female with blonde hair and green eyes, according to information released by the sheriff’s department. She is approximately 5’4” tall and weighs around 170 pounds.

New details released by Sheriff Perry Palmer earlier this week said Gardner may have traveled to Preston County. Her cell phone last pinged off of Interstate 68 near Exit 29 – Hazelton Road.

A search party is being organized to look for the missing woman, according to information shared on social media. The group plans to gather at 7 a.m. Nov. 4 at Little Sandy’s Truck Stop, 44 Fuel Drive in Bruceton Mills – should Gardner not be located before then.

Those who wish to participate should dress for potentially cold and wet weather. Reflective clothing is also recommended.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gardner is asked to contact the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department at 304-291-7260 or call MECCA 911.
