MPD investigating after gun fired on Beverly Avenue

Morgantown Police are investigating after calls came in Sunday reporting shots had been fire in the 400 block of Beverly Avenue.

The call came in at around 3:40 a.m. and resulted in a subsequent community warning by West Virginia University, alerting those in area.

The alert said no one had been injured.

When they arrived on scene, Morgantown Police officers spoke to several witnesses, who provided descriptions of the suspect as well as video footage of the incident.

According to police, a gunshot was fired after a fight took place at the Sunnyside address.

The suspect had fled prior to police arrival, but has since been identified by Morgantown Police detectives. Service of a criminal complaint is pending.

Further details will be released upon service of warrants, police said Monday.
Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office and the WVU Police Department assisted in the investigation.
