
Patricia Dae Hicks, born on January 27, 1944, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023, at Morgantown Healthcare Center. Known for her faith-filled, generous, and loving nature, Patricia was a beacon of compassion and love to all who knew her.
Patricia devoted her life to the service of others. She worked as a supervisor at a Senior Center and as a teacher at a School for Disabled Children. Her dedication to the well-being of others extended to her involvement with the Humane Society, where she championed for the rights and welfare of animals.
A woman of deep faith, Patricia’s love for God was evident in every aspect of her life. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, where she shared her faith and love with fellow members. Her Christian values were the guiding principles of her life, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Smerdell, and her husband Todd, and Anita Long. She was a cherished grandmother to Kairra Smerdell, Carrie Long and her fiancé Michael McNeill, and Christy Flinchum and her husband, Travis. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Ava, and Lorena, McKenzie and Maren, Kaylee, Ethan, and Grayson. Patricia is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Clutter; her niece and nephew, Peggy and Jack Clutter; and her lifelong friends, B.J. and Judy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Clutter, Sr.; and two nephews, Glen Clutter, Jr., and Wayne Clutter.
Patricia’s passing leaves a void that will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Memorial service will be held at the Fred L Jenkins Chapel of Prayer at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
