Former B&E building contents listed in online auction

The former home of the John Chambers College of Business, previously known to many as the Business and Economics (B&E) building, has been empty since the business school began operating out ofReynold’s Hall in August 2022.

The former B&E building – now called Field Hall for its location on the site of old Mountaineer Field, the university’s original football stadium – will be renovated for future use by other programs.

Several departments within the Eberly College of Arts and Science are scheduled to move into the building after renovations are completed, WVU Executive Director of Communications April Kaull said. Currently, the design and bidding process, with subsequent renovation/construction, is underway.

Much of the furniture and fixtures in Field Hall will be retained for future use in the building, Kaull said, while some has already been redistributed to other buildings on the Morgantown and Keyser campuses.

Not everything could be saved or repurposed by the university however, leading to a limited amount of furniture from the building to be auctioned to the public by Joe R. Pyles Auction and Realty Service.

Auctioneer Jordan Kiger said there are loads of quality office furniture, including desks, credenzas, office chairs, filing cabinets, office cubicles and waiting room chairs.

There are approximately 240 listings on the auction site and while a few items are being sold individually, many are being offered as part of a multi-item package or a “lot” that are bid on together as a set. One option combines two desks, a chair and an 8×10 area rug, for example.

The auction, which is currently active through the Joe R. Pyles company website, will run until July 5. Bidding will close that day at 6 p.m. Those interested in viewing the items in person before the closing date will have an opportunity to do so from 3-6 p.m. June 30 at Field Hall.
