James Carl “Jim” McCulla, 65, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, with his family by his side. Jim was born in Morgantown, to the late William B. “Skip” McCulla III and JoAnn Rhodes McCulla of Westover.
Jim was a graduate of West Virginia University and went on to obtain his master’s degree in fine arts from the University of Iowa. Jim spent his entire career, spanning over 45 years, working at the West Virginia Radio Corp., where he was director of Continuity. When Jim wasn’t working, he could be found reading a good book, gardening and watching movies with his son Matthew. Above all else, he prided himself in being Papa to the two girls who stole his heart: CeCe and Emme.
In addition to his mother, Jim leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Sharon Bebout McCulla, of Morgantown; daughter, Ashley Voithofer (Joey), of Morgantown; son, Matthew McCulla of Morgantown; his two granddaughters, Cecelia Grace and Emerson James Voithofer; siblings, William B. McCulla IV (Marci) of Morgantown and Marcie Lipscomb (Keith) of Westover; his mother-in-law, Ruth Bebout; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Russ Bebout.

Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, and again on Wednesday, May 17, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating.
