Delegate Anitra Hamilton sworn in to succeed Danielle Walker

CHARLESTON — Anitra Hamilton took the oath of office to become the newest member of the West Virginia House of Delegates May 5.

Hamilton was appointed to represent Monongalia County’s 81st District. She will complete the unexpired term of former Delegate Danielle Walker, D-Monongalia.

“I’m thankful for what God has allowed me to do,” Hamilton said after House Clerk Steve Harrison administered the oath. “I want to make a difference while I’m here, I want to learn and grow and make a change in the state of West Virginia.”

Hamilton stood at the front of the House Chamber with her mother, Francis Anthony. Barbara Littles, and Leo and Regina Riley were among the friends and supporters watching while she took the oath.

Her committee assignments and contact information will be listed on the West Virginia Legislature’s website at a later date.
