Mon Health System and the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) on Tuesday raised a flag in honor of organ donors, recipients and those waiting for transplants.

Mon Health System and CORE representatives joined donor recipients and families at noon on the hospital grounds in Morgantown -- the first of several events hosted throughout the week in recognition of National Donate Life Month.

Celebrated in April, the annual observance encourages organ donation awareness and honors organ donors and their families. Hospitals across the U.S. fly the Donate Life flag throughout the month, to signal their support of donation, to serve as a display of unity, remembrance, and hope, and to honor those touched by donation and transplantation.

Other local flag-raising events hosted by Mon Health System and CORE, include:

  • Today: Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital, White Hall
  • Friday: Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, Kingwood

Starting at /week.
