Response to shots heard in Westover leads to 15 pounds of weed, wax and mushrooms

According to a press release from Westover Police Chief Joe Adams, a report of gunshots heard near the intersection of Race and Harrison streets led to the arrest of two individuals after officers found approximately 13 pounds of marijuana, two pounds of THC wax and two pounds of psychedelic mushrooms.

According to the release, officers from Westover, Granville and Morgantown responded to a call of shots heard around 3:46 a.m. on March 28.

While patrolling the area, officers from Westover and Granville heard a gunshot and yelling coming from 427 Fairmont Road.

While clearing the residence and detaining the occupants, officers spotted several unspent rounds of ammunition on the living room floor and could smell a strong odor of marijuana.

A search warrant was obtained, the execution of which led to the drugs as well as two AR-15 rifles, assorted ammunition and over $6,000 in cash.

Adams said Jack Thomas Pownall and Cameron Avery Weigner were taken into custody for possession with intent to distribute.
