Fred Fisher

Fred Eugene “Pete” Fisher, 91, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Harmony at White Oaks in Bridgeport. He was born Aug. 4, 1931 in Lowesville, a son of the late Clarence J. and Rose Marie Johnson Fisher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Paugh Fisher, on Feb. 18, 2022.

Pete was a member of the Arnettsville United Methodist Church and attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Morgantown High School. Pete retired with the Borg-Warner Corporation of Morgantown, where he served for over 20 years as an area supervisor.

Pete was known for his meticulous yard, which he was known to mow every other day. He was a very religious man and a dedicated Bible reader, which he had read completely over seven times. He served on the board of directors of the Arnettsville Cemetery. He had been an excellent baseball pitcher in his younger years and played on local teams. Pete and his wife, Helen, enjoyed attending auctions and belonged to a travel club. They particularly enjoyed staying many times on “Dude Ranches” in upper New York state.

Pete is survived by his brother, Bill Fisher, of Pleasant Valley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his three brothers, Clarence J. Fisher Jr., Jack R. Fisher, Melvin Fisher and an infant brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Arnettsville United Methodist Church, 4317 Fairmont Road, Morgantown, WV 26501, or the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1511 Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends and family are invited to visit from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 31, and then from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. The funeral will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, with the Rev. Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at the Arnettsville Cemetery in Arnettsville.
