Todd Blackham

Todd William Blackham, 43, died unexpectedly on March 15, 2023, at his home in Morgantown.
Todd was born on June 15, 1979, in Weymouth, Mass., to the late William Blackham Jr. and Betty Blackham. Todd graduated from Attleboro High School in 1998 and attended CCRI, BCC and NEIT.

Growing up, Todd loved being outdoors and around animals, nicknamed “the animal whisperer” by his family and friends. He enjoyed working at Whispering Pines in Norfolk, Mass., helping animals, before moving onto other careers. Todd always loved taking a good joy ride with no particular destination in mind. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed playing basketball throughout his adolescence. He also enjoyed annual trips to Hilton Head with family and friends, where he learned his love for golf.

Todd had a heart of gold; everyone from his childhood and the special few who really got to know him in his adult life could confirm. He was funny, kind, selfless and always up for a good time. Todd suffered from mental health issues and eventually addiction; both of which he struggled with for many years. Drugs and alcohol offered Todd what nothing or no one seemed to be able to; an escape from the demons he faced throughout his life. Despite all, he was a fierce and persistent fighter who lived every day of his life as fully as he could. He is survived by his mother; younger sister, Tracy; his, nephew Teddy; beloved dog, Mitch; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who have helped Todd throughout his journey.

We tell Todd’s story out of love and hope. We want to shine light on a darkness that so many suffer but so few share.

Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a celebration of Todd’s life in June (close to his birthday). If interested in attending, please reach out to his sister, Tracy.

Todd’s family would like to help raise awareness of this devastating addiction epidemic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Jacob’s Ladder at Brookside Farm at https://jl-af.networkfor
good.com/projects/63861-give-the-gift-of-recovery in Todd’s memory. Jacob’s Ladder is an amazing recovery program, and our family will be forever grateful to them for the love, support and respect they gave Todd and our family. We hope you can help us support their great work. We also recommend watching their Netflix documentary, “Recovery Boys,” to get a better understanding of addiction and the amazing things Jacob’s Ladder does to help others like Todd at https://www.net
