Frances Linn Bishop, 85, of Kingwood, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Windy Hill Village Assisted Living. She was born April 30, 1937, a daughter of the late Robert K. Williams and Gail Mildred (Torry) Williams. Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Everett C. Bishop, in 2014.
Frances was a 1955 graduate of Kingwood High School. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Guild Suzanne Circle, a charter member of the Heritage Homemakers, Preston Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Preston County Senior Citizens, Buckwheat Jewels Red Hat Group and the Kingwood Women’s Civic Club.
Over the years, Frances and Everett enjoyed traveling, they had many wonderful trips together and spent several winters in Punta Gorda, Fla. She loved to garden and read. She valued the friendship of her weekly coffee group and also the special ladies in her card playing group.
Surviving are two sons, Michael J. Bishop (Kathleen), of Rosman, N.C., and Patrick E. Bishop (Lynn), of Kingwood; and one daughter, Lynn A. Peters and husband Kenneth, of Grafton; and six grandchildren, Trent Bishop, Lyle Bishop, Cameron Bishop, Benjamin Peters, Allison Peters and Shelby Thorn. She is also survived by one brother-in-law and wife Robert and Lela Bishop, four sisters-in-law, Shirley Bishop, Joyce Tatham, Judy O’Connor and husband Bob and Naomi Moon Williams in addition to several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Beth Ann Bishop; a daughter-in-law, Tonja L. Bishop; one sister, Helen A. Field Moulder; and one brother, Robert I. Williams.
Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, and at Wesley United Methodist Church from 10-11 a.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Jonathan Nettles officiating. Private interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
