David Merritt Hammond, 75, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in the Unity Manor Apartments, in Morgantown.
He was born July 14, 1947, in Washington, Pa., the son of the late Merritt and Helen Bonham Hammond.
He was a graduate from West Virginia University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and he was the organizer of their yearly reunion of the Iota Lambda Zeta chapter.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Louise Randolph Humphreys, and their sons Lawson W. Hammond, of Pittsburgh, and his partner Kelly Andresen, and Davisson M. Hammond, of Mars, Pa., his wife, Monica Passaniti, and their son, Reid, and daughter, Quintin; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hammond, of Washington, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Hammond, and sister, Judith Ellen Hammond.
Friends and family will be received at a memorial gathering at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, July 15, with a luncheon immediately following at a separate location.
