Karen Ann Starchok, 68, of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by her side.
Karen was born in Johnstown, Pa., on March 8, 1954, the daughter of Michael and Connie Starchok of Johnstown, Pa.
Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ross and Mary Torchia and Frank and Nellie Starchok.
Karen graduated from Johnstown High School in 1972, attended the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, and received her certification as an EEG technician. She worked at WVU as a technician until she became a business owner of Finishing Touches and Optical Express in Morgantown until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Connie Starchok, she is survived by her brother, Michael Starchok; her two children, Marc Zajdel and Kristy (Brandon) Bolinger; grandchildren, Dylan (Abby) Frankhouser and Owen Bolinger; great-grandson, Miller Reed Frankhouser; and nephew, Phil Starchok.
Friends and family gathered at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, for remembrance and reflection. Following her gathering, Karen’s family will honor her wishes for cremation, and a private burial of her ashes will be held by the family at a later date.
