Helen Osecky

Helen “Jean” Gamble Osecky, 88, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023.

Jean was born on Dec. 1, 1934 in Mona, the eldest of nine children of the late Charles Lester Gamble and Sarah Isabelle Corley Gamble.

Jean had many hobbies and interests, including playing the piano, quilting and listening to bluegrass music. She was known for being an excellent cook and always made sure no one left her kitchen hungry. Jean attended Riverside United Methodist Church, where she played the piano on Sunday mornings for many years.

She is survived by her children, Stanley “Todd” Osecky Jr. (Sandy), Jeff Osecky, Nancy Osecky and Chuck Osecky (Pam); grandchildren, Kristopher Osecky (Chelsea), Matthew Osecky, Jeffrey Osecky, Amy DeWitt (Daniel), Marina Ciarmella and Charlie Osecky; great-grandchildren, Dillon and Reagan Osecky and Avery, Ashlynne and Addley DeWitt; sisters, Connie Braham (Fred), Linda Hardesty and Sandy Friend; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley “Teenie” Osecky; son, Larry Osecky; sisters, Patty Jones and Carol Prudnick; and brothers, Bill Gamble, Dave Gamble and Donnie Gamble.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mount Morris, Pa., at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, officiated by Pastor Jim Weber with a reception immediately following at the Mount Morris Volunteer Fire Department.
