Shirley Lojewski

Shirley Jean Lojewski, 85, of Morgantown, passed away on Feb. 19, 2023, at Evergreen Personal Care Home, surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on Aug. 17, 1937, in Western Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Rachel Thomas Lenkowech.

Shirley graduated from Uniontown High School in 1955. She worked for Rockwell International in Uniontown, Pa. before marrying her husband of 49 years, John Lojewski, and moving to Morgantown. She raised her three children and later in life was co-owner and office manager of J.L. Machine & Tool Inc.

Shirley was a devout Catholic and attended mass at the Good Counsel Friary and St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Shirley loved Polka dancing, traveling, spending time with family and doing holiday dinners, and she adored her 11 grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her three children and spouses, John II and Annette Lojewski, Nanette and Michael Gaspar and Stephanie and Chip Buck, all of Morgantown; 11 grandchildren, Elisha Nestor (R.J.), Brandon Lojewski, Jason Gaspar (Danielle), Bethany Otroba (Ryan), Zachary Buck (Olesya), Samantha Clarkson (Alex), Matthew Buck (Liz), Alex Lojewski, Emily James (Adam), Rachel Gaspar and Sarah Lojewski; nine great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Butterworth, Nancy Harmon, Joann Beatty (Charles); and her sister-in-law, Helen Kalo, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John Lojewski; sister, Betty Jean Lenkowech; mother-in-law, Mary Lojewski; and brothers-in-law, Robert Butterworth, Rudy Harmon and Joseph Kalo.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from
3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3346 University Ave., Morgantown, WV 26505, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23 with the Rev. Fr. Brian J. Crenwelge as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Peace Gardens Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Personal Care Home and Amedysis Hospice for their loving care of Shirley.
