Gary Cale

Gary Lee Cale, 69, of Masontown, went to be with the lord on Friday Feb. 10, 2023, after a strong battle against cancer surrounded by his loved ones, at his home.

He was born on July 18, 1953, in Morgantown, to the late Percy and Thelma (Newsome) Cale. Gary was a basketball and football star (Mr. Touchdown) and a graduate of Valley High School Class of 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Margie (Shaffer). He was a hardworking man, providing for his family as a truck driver for Percy Cale trucking and devoted coal miner for Consol Energy for 37 years and UMWA member. He was a past president and member of the Valley Sportsman’s Association.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Cale; sons, Chris Cale and wife Tabetha and Jeremy Cale and his fiancé Morgan Kisner; four grandchildren, Mandra Trickett and fiancé Chad DeWitt, Colby Cale, Braylon Cale and Dustin Metz; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Davis and Rian Metz; and three brothers, Larry Cale (wife Pam), Mike Cale (wife Sherry) and Terry Cale (wife Diane). He was preceded in death by his son, Jedidiah Cale; granddaughter, Chelsea Mazza; and grandson, Christopher Cale.

A special thank you for the caregivers Morgan, Jeremy, Mandra, Stonerise at home and WVU Home Health and Hospice for the care provided to Gary.

Friends will be received, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville, from noon-3 p.m., the time of funeral services on Thursday, Feb. 16 with Pastor Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow in the Mayfield Cemetery, Snake Hill Road near Masontown.
