Christina King

Christina “Dolly” King passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 21, 2023, at 1:05 a.m. surrounded by family and Lady Jane, her dear cat.

Christina is the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kundrat. She was born in Morgantown on Feb. 11, 1940; and lived in Osage for most of her life. She was given the gift of travel but always returned to her roots in Osage.

Christina “Dolly” King is survived by her daughters, Diane (Russell) Johnson and Nancy Dunn; her twin sister, Catherine “Tootsie” Denney, and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Ward; her grandchildren, Angela (Richard) Oberwitte, Jonathan Painter, Benjamin Bearce and Morgan Dunn; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Oberwitte, Alika Painter, Kaleb Oberwitte and Alannah Painter.

In addition to her parents, Michael and Mary Kundrat, Christina “Dolly” King was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. King, and daughter, Terry Bearce; her two brothers, William Kundrat and Michael Kundrat; and her three sisters, Mary Tichnell, Ruth Douse and Eileen Siel.

She retired from Davis and Lynch Glass Co. and Mylan Pharmaceutical Corp. and was a life member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 9916 and Scott’s Run Museum and Trail, an organization that continues the memories of the West Virginia coal miners. She co-authored a children’s book, displaying diversity during the earlier times in West Virginia with her lifelong friend, Patty.

The family wishes donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Scott’s Run Museum. The address is 465 Scott’s Run Road, Morgantown, WV 26501.

Family and friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, with funeral service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, with burial to follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
