Arnold Tichnell

Arnold David Tichnell, 73 of Bruceton Mills, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins. He was born in Newburg, May 22, 1949, a son of the late Harley Lewis and Maude Opal Pratt McGinnis Tichnell. His wife, Susie Jane Dennis Tichnell survives.

Arnold was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from the Preston County Board of Education with over 20 years of service. He was a police officer for the town of Tunnelton for over seven years, he was also a contractor for Camp Dawson for over 13 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, collecting coins and being on the go. He was a member of the American Legion and Hopewell United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Betty Lou Shrader, of Beaver Falls, Pa., Pauline Delores Kirchmar, of Morgantown, and Charlotte Ann Little, of Morgantown, several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Dennis Williams, of Shinnston.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy Lewis Tichnell, Tharos Franklin McGinnis, Paul Edward McGinnis, Robert Junior Tichnell and James Emery Tichnell; and three sisters, Edna May Hayes, Mildred Elaine Frazier and Sara Elizabeth Pike.

Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 with Pastor Lynda Masters and Chaplin Dennis Lusin officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, where full military graveside rites will be accorded by the honor details of VFWs of Preston County and the WVANG.
