MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills introduced on Thursday, Jan. 12. Local sponsors and co-sponsors, if any, are noted.

  • HB 2002, to create an adoption tax credit, early intervention services for adoptive children and other family support services.
  • HB 2003, to provide early childhood assistant teachers and systems of support to help students achieve grade level literacy and numeracy by end of third grade. Delegate Buck Jennings, R-Preston, co-sponsor.
  • HB 2004, to prevent the use of payment card processing systems for surveillance of Second Amendment activity and discriminatory conduct.
  • HB 2005, to establish the dual enrollment pilot program for the registration of an eligible secondary student in a postsecondary course creditable toward high school completion and a career technical certificate, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree.
  • HB 2006, to reorganize the Department of Health and Human Resources. Delegate Amy Summers, R-Taylor, lead sponsor; Delegate Phil Mallow, R-Marion, co-sponsor.
  • HB 2007, to prohibit medical providers from performing gender-transition procedures on minors.
  • HB 2518, to require that each state-funded institution, including, but not limited to, schools, colleges, correctional facilities, governmental agencies, and state parks, shall obtain a minimum of 10% of its food from in-state producers.
  • SB 152, to change the time of holding primary elections to the second Tuesday in August. Sen. Mike Oliverio, R-Monongalia, sponsor.
  • SB 153, to create the West Virginia Chemical Abortion Prohibition Act. Sen. Randy Smith, R-Tucker, co-sponsor.
  • SB 155, to require medical professionals to report to the Bureau for Public Health all injuries and side effects from vaccines. Smith, co-sponsor.
  • SB 156, to modernize procedures for voting in public elections. Sen. Mike Caputo, D-Marion, sponsor.
  • SB 158, to prohibit a person under the age of 18 from entering into a marriage.
