Gary “Doc” Neely, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at his home. Gary was born June 10, 1942, in Morgantown, a son of the late Fred and Virginia Jolliffe Neely.
Gary worked for the glass factory and then spent the rest of his career in the coal mines, retiring from Arkwright. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his wife at Springfield and Turkey Hill in Wana. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren trying to catch the elusive catfish from the family pond.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Debbie Ann Snyder (Bud), of Westover; son, Daniel Scott Neely (Rebecca), of Morgantown; grandchildren, Corey Buzzo (Morgan), Chelsea Buzzo (Zack), Caitlyn Sine (Reno), Josh Neely (Dionna), Hannah Neely, Danielle Neely and Kameron Neely; great-grandchildren, Rylee McCollum, Izaiah Erdie, Kayden Sine, Takoda Sine, Haidyn Neely and Jozi Neely; dog, Casper; and special friends, Jim Vangilder, Dave Sweitzer, John Hiser, Alan Foster and Joey Foster.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Ann Neely.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road Westover, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, and again from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time on Saturday Dec. 31 with the Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
