Elizabeth Dayton

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Dayton, 97, of Granville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022. Elizabeth was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late John and Antonette Belcastro Ferrise.

Elizabeth had worked as a glass decorator at Davis-Lynch Glass factory and was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was a volunteer at the Senior Monongalians until the age of 95, “Serving milk to the old people.”

Elizabeth was very artistic, and painting was one of her passions, along with sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, etc. There was nothing she couldn’t do. She was loved and adored by everyone, especially her family, and will be deeply missed.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Mariani (Garth), of Charleston; grandson, Andrew Dayton Selbe, of Charleston; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Charles Dayton; and siblings, Tony Fraze, Mary Phillips, Virginia Torch, Julia Monell, William “Billy” Ferrise, Rose Walker, Lena Dorinzi, Katherine Gacek and Francis Ferrise.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road Westover, from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday with the Rev. Craig Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
